[78] The words and names they had rarely ever heard before suddenly sounded menacing: Drewnica, Garwolin, Niemojki,291 Zimna Woda, Piekło, Narty, Mordy292 and other places.

And the tragic crack of the shots in the camp near Chełm, in Ossowo,293 when, in September 1941, 53 labour camp prisoners were executed due to an epidemic.

Transports left almost every day and after no later than three weeks the first labour camp prisoners returned, sick, wounded, and carrying the corpses of their companions.

A special corps consisting of Ukrainians, Germans, and Poles, known as Lagerschutz, was established to watch the camps.

The Jewish men were handed over to them [79] for death and annihilation.

They are also to blame for the creation of the Jewish cemetery on a hill in Narty in the Kampinos Forest just four months after the arrival of the men in the camp.

The Care Section launched an operation to help the captured men contact their families.
