To facilitate the reading of the texts, the editors modernized the orthography and punctuation, and corrected any obvious linguistic errors. All proper names and nationalities are written with a capital letter. All originally underlined, spaced, or otherwise highlighted fragments of the documents have been retained. Authors’ footnotes appear in their original places and with suitable reference marks.
Abbreviations were expanded, with the exception of the texts in which they appear repeatedly, in which case full words were introduced the first time they appeared in the text. The same pertains to initials.
The transcripts of the texts end with a short summary. For orientation, the original pagination is provided in square brackets.
To avoid the need to repeat footnotes, definitions of the most frequently appearing terms are provided in the glossary at the end of the volume.
