There are currently 8 active disinfection brigades in the ghetto, whose task is to carry out disinfection in dirty houses, or ones affected by the epidemic. These columns have been operating in the ghetto since 1940. Their list and composition have changed, but the most general character and system of work have remained consistently the same.
Admission to a disinfection brigade took place based on a letter of recommendation to the director, Dr. Gold. During the period when particularly many people were needed (July 1941), practically every applicant was employed without any selection, based on just about any recommendation.
