former deputy chairman of the Social Insurance Doctors Association, died on 6 August 1941. His body will be brought to the Chapel from his home at Leszno Street 44 on 8 August 1941 at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on 9 August at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, after which the body will be transported to Powązki Cemetery.649 The information about these sad rites is conveyed by his wife and daughter.”

The deceased was a converted Jew, one of those oddities in the life of today’s [2] Jewish Warsaw, someone who lived in the Jewish district and, with a band on his arm, attended Sunday mass in the church, which was fortunately located within the ghetto. Indeed, at 7 p.m., the body was taken to the chapel. The casket with the deceased was accompanied by his family, all wearing armbands. The Jews looked at the strange sight with irony and pity. The church apparently managed to ensure that such a staunch Christian would rest on “their” Powązki Cemetery. However, the family allegedly could go no further than to the border of the ghetto. The deceased had to be taken the rest of the way alone, so that at least after his death he would have the honour [3] of staying with his own kind, which, despite his efforts and sacrifices, he did not manage to accomplish while he was alive.

    10 August 1941.
