After several days, new members of the Judenrat were elected and the ghetto was moved to a different part of the city, by the River Shchara,217 with even more cramped living conditions. In addition, the city was completely quiet (I am talking about the period until my departure, that is three weeks after the pogrom). 5,000 survivors are waiting resignedly for their turn.

After the Germans entered Warsaw, I decided to leave the city to go to the land occupied by the Soviet Union. According to my knowledge, the border was then closed, but it was not too difficult to cross it. We departed (I set off with a couple of friends, a man and his wife from Łódź) on 7 December.
