Aft er September 1942, Warsaw ghetto. Anonymous. Study entitled ”טעזן
צום באַריכט“ [“Topics for the Report”]. Outline of a study on the preparations
for and course of the Aktion in the Warsaw ghetto in 1942.

[1] Topics for the Report⁵⁰⁶

A. On the Eve of Resettlement
Worrying rumours about impending deportation. – A week before the events
(before 22 July): news about it from Kohn/Heller (Piaseczno rebbe)⁵⁰⁷ – echoes
from the provinces: the provinces knew – Lublin (the Lublin extermination
brigade); letters: from Kłodawa⁵⁰⁸ – from Majdan.⁵⁰⁹ – The total disorientation
and unpreparedness of Jewish Warsaw for the events – failure to realise
what was going on.
– Precise records of efforts and attempts made shortly before the events as well
as during the first days, regarding what could not be organised.
– Characteristics of the Warsaw kehilla: its complete disorientation and
depression.
– What were the kehilla bigwigs busying themselves with just before the
events? (opening kindergartens in Nalewki Street, Nowolipki Street, and
Grzybowska Street; speeches by Czerniakow at end-of-school-year ceremonies)
B. The Resettlement
– A chronological and numerical review of daily events in the ghetto starting
from 22 July (Wednesday).
– The rapid creation of workshops; houses, blocks – How was the deportation
carried out? Sort the material according to issues.

506 See Doc. 68.
507 According to Yekhiel Gorny’s diary, two collaborators Kohn and Heller asked the rebbe of Piaseczno and Kock to pray for Warsaw Jews not being deported from the ghetto. The rebbe assured them that there would be no deportation. See ARG II 247 (Ring. II/288), note from July 20th.
508 Kłodawa (Koło district).
509 The Lublin Jews who remained alive after the first Aktion and deportation to the death camp in Bełżec in March–April 1942 were resettled in the ghetto at Majdan Tatarski.
