Kraków – On Friday, 29 May, the Germans organised a general registration
of the Jews in Kraków combined with the stamping of their [work records?].
The registration was to end at 4 p.m. on Sunday, 31 May. The Judenrat stamped
only 14,000 [work records?] of the 20,000. On the night from Sunday to
Monday the ghetto was surrounded with SD posts and the Germans removed
2,000 Jews from their flats. Each person could take 10 kilograms of baggage
and 20 zlotys. The Germans took their remaining money. The Jews were
assembled in Prokocim (3 kilometres out of Kraków), from where they were
deported in sealed boxcars. The Germans executed the old on the way in the
Niepołomice forests. The chairman and [. . .] members of the Judenrat were
also deported in that first transport. On Tuesday, 2 June, 14 Jews were shot
dead and 15 were wounded on the streets of Kraków. At 6 a.m. on Thursday,
4 June, the SD captured Jews in accordance with a list and with the help of
the Jewish police. 80 Jews were murdered and 76 were wounded. The operation
lasted the whole day and affected 4,000 Jews. The captives were driven on
foot to Prokocim, with many killed on the way. (“The road was stained with
blood”, said an informer). The transport passed through Brzesko-Słotwina⁶³⁸
at 9:30 in the evening. The local Judenrat had prepared bread and coffee for
the Jews, but the German guards did not permit the food to be handed over.
The same thing happened at the station in Tarnów (12:30 at night). On Friday,
5 June, the Germans removed 250 patients from the hospital. There has been
no news about their fate. A new registration of 2,000 Jews was carried out
throughout Saturday, 6 June, and on Sunday [. . .] 500 people aged 18–24 from
that transport were deported [. . .] to the camp in Kleszew⁶³⁹ [. . .]. At the destination
