Information has recently been received about the increasing numbers
of murders of foreigners committed in the infamous Pawiak prison, where
foreigners had been kept from early July this year. Most of them are hanged
after being tortured to unconsciousness but many are executed with the use
of firearms. It is a real-life illustration of the German statement that international
agreements are sacred.
Banditry in the Warsaw ghetto.
With regret information is given about the intensification of the plague
of banditry in the Warsaw ghetto. Aside from banditry, extortion of all forms
and kinds and also with firearms thrives there. At nightfall bands begin to
prowl the ghetto streets, beating and robbing late passers-by of everything they
possess, after the German fashion. The victims are often left without clothes
and shoes, not to mention money. Every so often the bands act in league with
uniformed Germans, as it was e.g. in the evening of the 29th of this month on
Nalewki Street, when a German robbed a few Jews in league with szmalcowniks.
At 7 p.m. on the 29th of this month armed Jewish robbers burgled a flat
at Niska Street 35.
The bandits and robbers come from social scum and elements depraved
by the German example.
Ursus again.⁷⁶⁸
At 12 o’clock on Tuesday (the 29th of this month) a lorry from the Ursus
factory pulled up in front of the block of flats of Jewish labourers employed at
this factory. Three German Werkschutzes alighted from the lorry and at once
commenced a search of the entire building. Aside from the fact that they stole
