In the ghetto Himmler visited the Werterfassung storehouses at Dzielna
Street 35 and 69 (not the only collection depots for looted Jewish property). He
had no interest in Jewish workshops or factories. The only thing that interested
him was his achievement – the Werterfassung.
[69] Residents of the ghetto have the worst premonitions on account of
the visit of their murderer: a “resettlement” à la Treblinka or another similar
campaign.
His departure from the ghetto was as horribly quiet and unceremonious
as his arrival. This is how the visit to the first conquered European capital –
the one most severely tried by the fate of the war – appeared.
Miscellaneous. The influx of Jews into the Jewish district in Warsaw in
the month of December last year was as follows:
1 December 109 people
2 December 122 people
3 December 42 people
and less than 40 people per day over the subsequent days.
The number of labourers reporting to work in Werterfassung:
in early December – approximately 3,200 people per day
in the second half of December – approximately 3,700 people per day
Technical works. Throughout last December approximately 340,000
bricks were brought in, including approximately 320,000 to wall in the
workshops.
Health. Last month 205 cases of typhus and 12 of typhoid fever were registered.
Of the 205 cases of typhus as many as 171 cases were among the newly
arrived former prisoners of labour camps.
Deaths. The total number of deaths throughout last December was 334.
