Dolp⁸⁸¹ boasts to have single-handedly killed or tortured to death the first
thousand Jews (POWs).
The German invasion of the Soviet Union forged the most horrifying link
in the chain of endless suffering of the Jewish masses – the Ausrottung, that
is, the physical destruction of Jews, purportedly “responsible” for the war,
conducted on a scale unknown to past generations. This second stage is striking
in its ruthlessness and unparalleled consequence worth of a better cause.
All binding anti-Jewish ordinances from the period of the 22 months of
the ongoing war grow pale in comparison with this second stage, that is, with
the Ausrottung. The murder of entire Jewish settlements was not a result of
military operations but was conducted entirely on the basis of [18] national
considerations, completely without pretext or even without the offering of one.
Such are the features of the second stage, which still continues after twelve
months, that is, in June 1942. It has already taken a toll of at least 1 million
Jewish lives (excluding the massacres in the indigenously Soviet territories,
e.g. Kiev – 70,000 Jewish victims), as the table below shows.
