A weakness of past publications is that their editors failed to compare
all the available copies, including those stored outside the ARG, that is, in the
HWC and in the Office of the Delegate of the Government in Exile archival
fund in the AAN. Such an analysis facilitates understanding of the course of
the works on the Oyneg Shabes reports. The fact that most letters and testimonies,
which served as sources to the authors of the reports, are available in
an edited version and in a Polish translation also allows for many more opportunities
to investigate the informational activity of Oyneg Shabes.

Editorial note

The present publication is based on the Polish edition of selected documents
from the Oyneg Shabes Archive, included in Archiwum Ringelbluma.
Konspiracyjne Archiwum Getta Warszawy. Ludzie i Prace „Oneg Szabat,” published
in 2013.
The volume begins with short biographical information on people
appearing in the volume. Documents contained in this volume are presented
in their entirety. Each document is preceded by a headline containing basic
information about the given text: the date and place of its production, the
name and surname of its author, its title, a description of its character and
a brief summary of its contents.
All originally underlined, spaced or otherwise highlighted fragments of
documents have been retained. Because of the character of the materials published
here it was decided to introduce certain modifications, such as tabular
structure, in those places where the specificity of description permitted
that; for instance, in the case of the cashbook or the lists of the ARG archival
materials (documents 6 and 8).
Missing fragments of texts, due to physical or biological destruction, are
marked [. . .]. Passages crossed out from documents are marked with [x]. For
orientation, the original pagination is provided in square brackets. Documents
are concluded with technical descriptions.
Transcriptions and translations are based on the original ARG files stored
in the AŻIH, with the exception of the Oyneg Shabes bulletins of 12 April 1942.
During the editing, copies stored in the AAN were used, because they were
in very good condition as opposed to the severely damaged documents that
