from tuberculosis and committed suicide during the summer 1942 Aktion.
BRANDT, Karl – a Gestapo functionary in Warsaw, one of the key men leading
the summer 1942 Aktion in the Warsaw ghetto.
BRAUN, Mieczysław (1902–1942) – lawyer and poet, Esperantist, published in
Nasz Przegląd and Nasza Opinia, published a few volumes of poems in Polish
during the interwar period, in the ghetto he was a post office employee, died
of typhus.
BRAZ, Chana (1895–1942) – actress, before WWII performed in Vilna. In the
Warsaw ghetto she worked in the ŻSS and performed at events organised by
the ŻSS, Jewish Cultural Organisation (YIKOR) and CENTOS.
BRESLAV, Samuel (Shmuel) (1920–1942) – pre-war member of Hashomer
Hatzair. In the Warsaw ghetto he cooperated with Oyneg Shabes, recorded
the news broadcasted by the clandestine press; member of the ŻOB, shot on
a street in the ghetto in September 1942.
BRYN (Brian, Brin), Maks (?–1942) – pre-war film and theatre actor, he also
performed in the Warsaw ghetto.
BUNIN, Icchak Chaim (1875–1942) – writer and pedagogue, travelling teacher,
Chabad Chasidic movement scholar, between 1916-1939 school teacher in Łódź,
publicist of Hebrew and Yiddish press. In the beginning of the war, he fled to
Warsaw. He was murdered at Treblinka death camp.
CHILINOWICZ, Bentsyon (1889–1942) – before WWII journalist at the
Warsaw periodical Moment (1918–1939); during the war he worked in the JDC
office and ran a soup kitchen for journalists.
CHITOWSKI – rabbi, he gave testimony to Oyneg Shabes about his stay in
a labour camp in the Kampinos Forest.
