MICHELSON Leyb (?–1942) – pre-war worker of AJDC; in the Warsaw ghetto
an employee of the Supply Department of the ŻSS (1942). Member of the house
committee at Nalewki Street 23; murdered at Treblinka death camp.
MILLET Zygmunt (dates unknown) – just before WWII he began to work as
a solicitor in Warsaw; in the ghetto an employee of the Jewish Order Service.
MOSTKOW R. (Regina or Roza) (?–1942) – pedagogue, organiser of clandestine
education in the Warsaw ghetto, headmaster of the Hebrew school at
Nowolipie Street 22.
NEUSTADT Leyb (Leon) (1883–1943) – director of JDC since 1919 and during
the war, member of CENTOS board, the first chairman of ŻSS – Coordinating
Commission. He was murdered in Pawiak prison.
NISSENBAUM (Nysenbaum) Yitzak (1866–1943?) – rabbi, member of the
Mizrahi Party, co-editor of the daily Hatzefira. In the Warsaw ghetto he conceived
the idea of kiddush ha-khaim (Hebr., sanctification of life), obliging Jews
to save life at the expense of strict observation of religious rules.
NOWOGRODZKA Sonia (1893 or 1894-1942) – activist of the Bund and YIKOR,
teacher, wife of the Bund activist, Emanuel Nowogródzki. In the Warsaw
ghetto she was active in underground Bund and organized clandestine education.
Perished during the first Aktion.
OPOCZYNSKI Peretz (1892–1943) – poet, writer, born in Lutomiersk near
Łódź; in 1935 moved to Warsaw. In the interwar period he published in Yiddish
and Hebrew. In the Warsaw ghetto he kept a diary, and wrote reports and stories
about ghetto life.
OPOCZYNSKIS Mindla (Miriam) (dates unknown) and Dan (Dantchik) (dates
unknown) – wife and son of Peretz (see above).
ORLEAN Mieczysław (dates unknown) – in December 1940 he was a member
of the Labour Commission of the Judenrat.
