more, they’ll share their food with you, they’ll borrow from you, they’ll listen
to you, they’ll help you, they’ll do you favours. You have nothing – they’re
indifferent, no one will give you anything, no one will lend you anything, no
one will share anything with you, no one will listen to you, they will refuse
to help – they will ignore you.
And that’s what everyone does at this dormitory. The hungry are starving,
and the full are sharing amongst themselves, and the hungry are watching
it jealously. There are really those here who have a lot compared to others,
and they don’t give anything to anyone (to anyone who is hungry, of course,
because they’ll give it to the one who has everything).
I’m not giving anyone ideas, I’m just thinking to myself . . . Maybe the
ones who do not want for anything will reflect on it and offer a solution to
such an unpleasant and strange issue. Anyway, I’m not saying anything . . .
I’m just looking and thinking . . . I’m just questioning our camaraderie, of
which we once boasted so much – when we were fine and happy.

We Are Organising the Dormitory


I don’t want to write about what had been until the new management came.
One thing I want to point out is that it was an end to overturns and staff
changes, thefts and other things are now a thing of the past, and we are now
facing one of the most important issues at the moment – namely the organisation
of the dormitory. The first thing that was organised was general disinfection,
which unfortunately coincided with just the moment when we were left
without staff. And then it was the boys who demonstrated what they were
capable of, it was a memorable three days, when we all worked from 6 a.m.
until 1 a.m. After the purging, there was a second important thing, appointment
of leaders on duty for individual tables. It worked out very well, because
at least at meal time the room took on the look of a dining room.
We are going forward! We are organising a dormitory!
The right to leave the facility and trade in the house has now been abolished.
There was a meeting about duties and each bedroom, dining room, etc. was given its own duty leader. We shall see what duty looks like. We are
