After December 1939, Łódź, [German authorities of Łódź], “Merkblatt für
die Aussiedlung von Juden” [Instructions on the resettlement of Jews].
Regulations for the Jews deported from Łódź to the General Government.


                        [1] I n s t r u c t i o n s  on the resettlement of Jews³¹⁰
1. Report today, together with the whole family, punctually between 5 and 7 p.m. at the courtyard of the Konserven-Export Ltd. company in Łódź at Kopernika Street 50 for resettlement to the General Government. (Aryan wives of Jews are informed about the possibility of dissolving their marriage. If they prefer not to leave their family, they will be subject to resettlement.)
2. All valuables, securities, bank books and cash — except for 50 zlotys per person — should be handed over. A statement concerning the valuables handed over should be filed according to the attached sample. Moreover, a general list of [all] remaining possessions should be prepared. Valuables and the above-mentioned statements should be placed in a container and handed over at the assembly point indicated in paragraph 1. The container with the valuables should be provided with
a strong cardboard label with the following data: name and surname, flat/street, house number and flat number.
3. One is allowed to take the following:
    a) supply for a period of three days,
    b) a suitcase with essential clothing and household goods, for example
duvets, linen, towels, soap,
    c) cash in Polish currency up to 50 zlotys per person; it is forbidden to take
securities, foreign currency, noble metals, jewels, and works of art,
    d) ID cards, birth certificates etc.,
    e) china for eating and drinking.
4. Storage furniture (wardrobes, chests) should not be locked, and keys
should remain in the locks.
5. Windows and main gas valves should be closed and water taps turned off.
6. Pets (dogs, cats, birds) should be left with neighbours.
