                                                 24) Announcement No 200

Litzmannstadt-Getto, 21 January 1941
                                                                                        [–] Ch[aim] Rumkowski
                                                                                          The Eldest of the Jews
                                                                                                 in Litzmannstadt

                                                25) Announcement No 206
In pursuance of the decree of the authorities, certain streets in the southern
part of the ghetto will be excluded.³⁸⁰ In order to carry out an orderly and
calm relocation of the residents and ensure that all of them once again have
a roof over their heads, I have appointed a special committee for the purpose.
Those concerned should calmly remain in their homes until my specially-
created committee informs them where they should move to. I therefore
order, in the interests of all concerned, that no one shall move on his own initiative
because such action will be exploited by irresponsible individuals for
their own profit and will also give rise to panic.
Persons who nonetheless move on their own will be evicted together
with the vacating tenant. In addition, their ration cards will not be amended

380 It is a reference to Smugowa, Chłodna and Oblęgorska Streets. Due to the many workshops in this area, it remained within the ghetto; however, 7,000 residents were resettled from there.
