489 Henryk Kaufman (1896–1945), professional firefighter, non-commissioned officer in the Polish Army. In the ghetto, organised and established the Fire and Chimney-sweeping Brigade, whose commander (director) he was throughout its operation. Excellent organiser. Despite enormous difficulties, he ensured that the ghetto fire brigade was well trained. Died in the labour camp in Kaltwasser.
490 Fabian Klozenberg (1876–1944), neurologist. Before the war worked as a physician at the Leonia and Izrael Poznański Hospital (in December 1939 the chief consultant). Died on 17 July 1944 in the ghetto.
491 Mordechai’s younger brother (1884–1944), deported with his wife to Auschwitz in August 1944.
