Dobroszycki.²⁷ The first volume edited by them appeared in 1965, and the second
in 1966; the subsequent two already-typeset volumes were destroyed as
a result of the already-mentioned anti-Semitic campaign of 1968. A complete
critical five-volume edition of the Chronicle was not published until 2009.²⁸
In recent years, publications based on archival sources were released, one of
them containing speeches by Mordekhai Chaim Rumkowski delivered in the
ghetto,²⁹ then materials prepared for the encyclopaedia of the ghetto³⁰ and
Rumkowski’s ghetto announcements from the years 1940–1944.³¹
In the Art Department of the JHI, there is a collection of about 550
objects, works of art and crafts, including hand-decorated commemorative
texts written in the ghetto (cards and albums), which were collected after
the war by the Central Jewish Historical Commission in Łódź. It is worth
mentioning The Nachman Zonabend Collection (RG 241), a large and very
valuable body of material consisting of documents from the Archive of the
Chairman of the Łódź Judenrat, which is located in the YIVO Institute for
Jewish Research in New York.
