Wolrauch from Kłodawa, who was mentioned earlier, were detained by gendarmes
at the border (between the Reich and the General Government). What
happened to them is at present unknown.
According to the latest news from Poles in Kłodawa, Jews are still being
brought there from Łódź. Children who die on the way (more correctly, who
freeze to death) are burnt on the spot, and the living are taken further.
According to other news, the Molech⁹⁹² machines in Chełmno have been
stopped and a new extermination site is being prepared at Skrzeszewy⁹⁹³ near
Żychlin.
Who knows what is happening at this time to the Jews of Żychlin,
Gostynin, Gąbin and other towns where the 8-mark head tax has been
imposed?
As for the Jews of Grabów, they are said to have already paid the diabolical
head tax and are waiting for the Germans to come for them. For that
moment they have prepared... petrol. The Jews of Grabów are said to have
decided that, if the worst that they foresee should happen, God forbid, they
will not suffer themselves to be killed by the Germans, but will set the whole
ghetto on fire and die in the flames for the kiddush ha-Shem, as the Jews of
Mainz, Speyer, Worms, Tulchin, Ostroh and other places did in former times.
The Jews of Grabów are said to have decided to renew the tradition of
the deep Middle Ages.
From that week on, letters from and to Żychlin are said to be censored.
