home. Górki is very close to the Toruń — Warsaw motorway. All the refugees
stayed on the estate — Poles robbed and plundered with threats. Left
with no means of support until 19 September. Lived on only carrots until the
Germans marched in. On the second day of Rosh Hashanah, the Germans
ordered everyone outside, to lie down by the cannons.

[Grudziądz]. Fate of the Jews in Grudziądz after the entry of the Germans.

Grudziądz
At the outbreak of war, a few dozen families remained in Grudziądz. Most
had already left a few days earlier, for fear of the imminent battleground outside
the city. The Germans entered the city on the 4th day. Later, when Warsaw
and Łódź were occupied, many families returned, but their fate, together with
that of those who had remained, was a sad one. Eyewitnesses report that they
were all shot, more than 300 souls altogether, children and women, so that
soon, in a few days, Grudziądz was left without any Jews.
